councilman wes bellamy seems to have negotiated the removal of the barricades at fourth and water. coming down again now.
at least 28 troopers stationed in this empty park protecting this piece of junk commemorating a general who lost a war fought for the right to own human beings as property.
some national guard posted up by the dumpster at the library on the other side of the street.
judge moore ruled earlier this year that having the tarps on the statues was causing “irreparable harm” to people who wanted to see them. so why are 40 cops starting to close in on me and maybe 8 other people quietly sitting on a bench looking at it?

a friend and i are sitting quietly on a bench, resting after a long day and reflecting on a very long year. the number of cops gathering behind us has maybe tripled since i sat down. seems unnecessary.
they must’ve talked about it and made the tactical decision that a 95 pound woman sitting on a bench didn’t warrant the national guard. it’s a ghost town.
it’s quiet here now.
