As @DavidHirsh has just said, we (Jews & our real allies) have been publishing, speaking and posting on the anti Jewish racism of Corbyn and the hard Left for years.
We have been ignored, silenced, vilified, abused and marginalized.
For me and I suspect many others, the over-riding emotion is despair.
Despair that Jewish voices are rarely listened to.
Despair that Jewish concerns are seen as disingenous and malign.
Despair because we hear loud and clear that ultimately we are tolerated not welcome
It has dawned on us that we have been guilty of the same complacency, arrogance and vanity for which we have (quietly & privately) castigated previous generations of Jews (most notably the European Jews of the Shoah).
We are them. Us. Now.
Summer 2018 the words “Jew” & “Zionist” & “Israel” are all over the media (mainstream & social) every day.
The fog has cleared. We know where we are
We despair of our life choices.
We despair of our ideological affiliations.
We despair of our allegiances.
We despair of our futures and those of our children.
We despair in the knowledge that our elderly family members have lived to see this.
Or more accurately, because in reality things are exactly the same as they have always been.
