Came across this mid-video ad from Ben Shapiro.

Unlike most, this is actually a good ad.

One of the best I’ve ever seen in a YouTube video.

If writing ads and ya know, making $$ is something ur into, watch it FIRST then read this thread.

ANALyzing copy w Big Nate Ep. 1 👇
Anal. Heh.

Anyways, to start, the hook is killer. He goes from talking about politics to “Let’s talk about your imminent death”

Ya, that’ll catch your attention.

The hook is the most important part bc it’s what determines how many people actually SEE your entire ad.
Then he quickly pushes an emotional button by creating a vision of you essentially being on your death bed pondering about what you FAILED to do during your lifetime.
Sales 101:

People buy on emotion (then JUSTIFY with logic)

It’s pretty subtle in this, but when people talk about storytelling in sales, this is what they’re talking about. Using it to create strong emotions.

(In this case, regret)
Next he mentions some stats + raises what is probably the most common objection for people who don’t have life insurance.

It’s confusing.
Blah blah blah. Then he says

“But if anything were to happen, it’s important that your loved ones are taken care of.”

Creating a vision of a BIG problem that’s VERY painful. Very powerful. Very emotional.
Then

“Rates are as low as they’ve been in 20 years, now’s the BEST time to buy.”

Immediately transitions into a LOGICAL reason you can now use to JUSTIFY your EMOTIONAL purchase.
Hooks you in. Creates vision of pain. Agitates problem. Hits emotional hot buttons. Presents solution with immediate CTA. Justifies buying with logic.

Killer stuff.

If only he were selling his own products instead of running ads..
