1) Was determined to back off Labour & Corbyn this week & support them going forward on #Brexit

But now this, following Corbyn's speech.

Corbyn's team want Brexit. They don't want to listen to the members on a #PeoplesVote & now it's been raised, they are switching position
2) let's just look at the chronology
I) Starmer (but no one else in Leadership) talks occasionally over last 2 years about "exact same benefits" 6 tests
ii) privately, @BarryGardiner describes them as nonsense
@BarryGardiner 3) iii) in run up to conference, probably because they know there is a huge influx of CLP motions asking for an early vote, Corbyn & others start talking about the 6 tests really for the first time.
@BarryGardiner 4) Iv) the motions come in. In the compositing process an overwhelming number of motions for a clear #peoplesvote turn into a final motion calling for a *pro brexit* GE with a possible PV (that may or may not include remain) based on complex conditions
@BarryGardiner 5) v) nevertheless, Starmer puts a PV with Remain back on the table. It gets clear support from the party via a standing ovation & a Vote.

This is the kicker.
By end of that day Labour are committed to voting down any deal that misses 6 tests & to a #PeoplesVote with Remain.
@BarryGardiner 6) vi) commentators make the point that Labour will now move to a pro #PeoplesVote position. It's where the party is by a huge majority.

Corbyn will be unable to resist is the thinking.

Then Corbyn's team found a way
@BarryGardiner 7) the following say Corbyn announces in his speech that he'd be willing to do a deal with the government on Brexit.
Gardiner starts saying the same thing.
#PeoplesVote is barely mentioned. But more importantly the 6 tests and Labour position are abandoned
@BarryGardiner 7 vii) the #PeoplesVote has been spiked. Labour go from "we will vote down any deal based on the 6 tests" to "we'll compromise with Government on a deal (what 6 Tests?)"
@BarryGardiner 8) so what does this tell us? The Labour Leadership is taking a #Brexit position which is directly opposed to its previous one and the members clearly stated position.

"We want a #PeoplesVote with an option to remain" has become "we will compromise with the Tories on #Brexit"
@BarryGardiner 9) whether for ideology or political expediency the Labour Leadership wants to support a jobs damaging #Brexit and will work with the Tories to get it, rather than listen to the fears of the members.
@BarryGardiner 10) and for those Corbyn supporters who say "it's strategic, he's backing Tories into a corner" I would say "fine, then he's game playing and point scoring whilst we head to a possible no deal in 6 months."
@BarryGardiner 11) Corbyn supporters complain vigorously about #FBPE attacking Corbyn but seriously, what do you expect?

Can anyone seriously say that "we'll compromise with Tories and bend our red lines on #Brexit" represents a fair position of the party as expressed by 150 CLPs?
@BarryGardiner 12) if you trace every single statement or action from Corbyn & his team they have virtually all been in support of #Brexit

If you trace all of the silences on various brexit scandals it's the same.

Most Labour supporters oppose Brexit, why do you still support him?
End
