Debating "civility" while ignoring Trump's 18 months of efforts to stoke civil conflict is like trying to diagnose cancer while ignoring the tumor.

When Rs highlight Eric Holder's "kick" remark, or feign outrage about the "mob," it's bad faith and misdirection. They're distracting from the real source of the illiberalism and authoritarianism that constitute the true threat to civil peace right now:

In short, much of the media framing of this debate treats the anger on the Dem side as existing in a vacuum, as if previous conduct by Trump and Republicans had no role in the current deterioration. This rigs the debate in favor of the GOP. Please stop doing this. Thanks. FIN
