Some thoughts on #Khashoogi affair:
(1) this is mostly about Saudi vs Turkey, Qatar and Iran. They took advantage of the killing of an Islamist that the Saudis likely (& stupidly) did in Turkey. Almost all info has been leaked from Turkey to Qatari media, and 90% has been fake.

(2) We know basically that the guy never came out of the embassy, and the Saudis have not been forthcoming about details. That doesn’t mean they’re lying, Bc closed societies aren’t often into the transparency thing. But there needs to be a legit investigation, & it’s happening.
(3) Trump has been perfect. Media—they’re mostly pro-Iran and Qatar (Muslim Brotherhood)—have been pressuring him to punish Saudis even before facts are in. That is bananas, and deeply irresponsible.
(4) When you see people very agitated by this—who can’t wait until the facts are in & we know what happened—immediately ask yourself what motivation they have for knee-capping Saudi Arabia. There’s always an immediate answer; they’re just kicking an enemy when they’re down.
(5) As a friend says, US media needs to be treated like the media in the Middle East now—every outlet has a different bias, usually on behalf of an intelligence service of one kind or another, and is shameless. Because Americans mostly aren’t familiar w ME outlets, it’s tricky.
