Bad showing for Poland's far-right ruling party in local elections. They lost most major cities. If these results held up in a parliamentary election, they would also now lose to the former PSL-PO coalition
Admittedly, local elections are muddy, lots of regions have local coalitions and independent candidates in Poland. So it's not a clear result.
Still, the ruling party's claim to speak on behalf of all True Poles looks shaky if they can't elect a mayor in the capital
Also surprising PiS result not better given their conversion of state media into ruling party propaganda.
Again: while this was hardly a knockout for the still divided, still problematic opposition, it's an important result because it undermines the ruling party's "we are the majority" narrative. By no measure are they the majority, and certainly not a constitutional majority
