Red flags on "Burkman/Wohl tried to smear Mueller" story as told by The Atlantic, the Daily Beast, NBC News and the NY Times.
Burkman and Wohl may be as dumb and irresponsible as their reputations but this *may* have been an O'Keefe style attempt to bait the Fake News media. 1/

@awprokop of Vox has an excellent summary of the story and does note that this may have been a trolling effort by Wohl and/or Burkman. He's not conspiratorial enough to suggest a 4Chan-type spoof of both sides, but I am! (Does conning Burkman sound hard?)

Other media skeptics include Krassentein of The Hill Reporter and Scott Stedman, independent journo. Their receipt of the key email is itself a red flag - why did concerned citizen Faux Lorraine email every reporter on earth but not law enforcement?

@jentaub got an email (described in The Atlantic) which carefully did *not* attempt to suborn perjury but offered her a fee for her time to chat about Mueller.
She's a respected law prof and CNN contributor. Terrible target for perjury, great target to troll "Fake News" CNN.

Last red flag for now: The Krassensteins, of the Hill Reporter and various internet scams, are in Ft Myers FL. As is Faux Lorraine, or so she said. Eerie coincidence or scammer shout-out?

And the payoff? Burkman and Wohl may have orchestrated this. False letters to journos is not a crime; the letter to @jentaub is innocuous. They beat the drums for their big "Mueller Abuser" reveal and stampede a few suckers. (The list of no-coverage outlets includes CNN). Or...

Or another prankster group set up the whole thing to take down both Burkman/Wohl of the clownish reps AND some Big Media. 4Chan could engineer this in their sleep, and who among us could NOT dupe Burkman with promises of explosive docs?

Or, if you want to tell me that someone might think @jentaub could be bought and an utterly unverified letter implicating Burkman is enough, then go with that. These guys did!

Burkman still has a presser for Thursday. His last few have been busts but if he brings out Faux Lorraine and her message is "You guys will print ANYTHING", well, LOL.
But it could go differently so based on vast experience I like my crow fried. Plenty of salt, salsa on the side.
