[THREAD] For months I’ve been asking @jacob_rees_mogg to address the violent threats, abuse and racism his followers display on social media. I’ve had no luck so far, so I’m asking everyone to please retweet this thread, and see if we can get his attention:
2/ Your followers frequently call for terror attacks against mosques, and they do it in a group devoted to supporting you, Jacob.
3/ In that same group, your followers were justifying the murder of Jo Cox. Isn’t this something you should speak up about, @Jacob_Rees_Mogg?
4/ Calls for the execution of Sadiq Khan (a regular occurrence in the group). Doesn’t it worry you that your supporters speak like this, @Jacob_Rees_Mogg?
5/ Shouldn’t you challenge the blatant anti-Semitism on display amongst your followers, @Jacob_Rees_Mogg?
6/ Your supporters are advocating the mass-killing of migrants. Shouldn’t you say “Not in my name”?
7/ What about people advocating for the murder of your colleague Philip Hammond? Is that not something you feel obliged to distance yourself from?
9/ Your supporters are discussing their plans for civil war, in a group devoted to you, @Jacob_Rees_Mogg. Don’t you have a patriotic obligation to ask them to stand down?:
10/ Most people would be horrified to think that genocide was advocated by their self-proclaimed supporters. Are you, @Jacob_Rees_Mogg?
11/ You spoke out to defend Theresa May from the violent metaphors of your colleagues. Will you defend her from the actual threats made by your supporters, @Jacob_Rees_Mogg?
PS: The tweet thread above is a selection of different topics that these people show their violent extremism on, but I want to make clear that the vast majority of the abuse and threats that I highlight are directed towards Muslims and migrants.
