I've always contended that promoting the notion of a "Blue Wave" is a mistake, as it sets us up for failure. If Democrats succeed in flipping either the House or Senate today (or both), the Right gets to say it was "as expected", and not much will change in their minds.
Congress may stand up to the vile actions and intents of the current Administration, but if the House and Senate are split, that's an impasse, and the Right gets to hypocritically claim Liberals are impeding democracy, thereby bolstering the rabid singlemindedness of their base.
If today's vote falls anything short of the much vaunted "Blue Wave", the Right gets to crow, even in supposed defeat. They will be armed with the claim that the electorate "proved" that the Orange Fool is more popular than Liberals have been contending.
Liberals have become just as ensnared by propaganda and hyperbole as their far less appealing counterparts on the Right Wing. Flinging mud and waving banners will not return our nation to the enviable democracy it once was.
I fear today's results, no matter how good, will be compromised by the posturing of both sides. What do we (EVERYONE) do to collectively return to a thoughtful examination of the issues facing our communities? How do we get back to being on the same side?

We don't need bigots, separatists, propagandists, racists, anarchists, tyrants, idiots, sexists, liars, and cheats.
