So, US donors gave the UK's main climate science denial campaign group, the GWPF, $177k in 2017... Why?

That's the year after the Brexit referendum, and during the same period that the GWPF and eight other organisations have been accused of colluding to push for a hard Brexit desmog.co.uk/2018/07/23/map…

Why would US donors have an interest in this? And why would they fund a climate science denial thinktank to push this?

Because deregulation means fewer pesky environmental standards getting in the way of pushing US products into the UK, as we outline here desmog.co.uk/2018/11/18/mat…

And which US donors would want this? It's hard to know where the money comes from for sure, but there's a well-established connections between UK groups pushing post-Brexit deregulation and US libertarian influencers, as this map shows 👉

Those funders include groups with very close ties to fossil fuel magnates and infamous climate science denial funders, the Koch brothers (desmogblog.com/koch-family-fo…)

It also includes groups with ties to data analytics guru Robert Mercer (desmogblog.com/robert-mercer)

So this is all part of a larger trend of foreign interests lobbying to ensure Brexit isn't in the interests of Brits, but fits an agenda that means the 💲 get 💲💲💲
