Theresa Villiers should not be allowed on TV to discuss Brexit after saying:

"There is no reason why we have to change our border arrangements in the event of a Brexit, because they've been broadly consistent in the 100 years since the creation of Ireland as a separate state."
Today on #Ridge, Theresa Villiers argued in favour of leaving with No Deal and trading on WTO terms, even though the WTO has already confirmed (on #Marr) that that would break the Good Friday Agreement.
Can more people start calling out Theresa Villiers please?
She was the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. She can't be allowed to keep saying absolute rubbish on the topic! #Ridge

I don't have a party to run / election to win, so maybe it's rich of me to stand on principle; maybe I'm naive, but...
I'm not willing to pretend that a good Brexit deal is possible just because I'm scared people (who I should have won over on Brexit) might think I'm ruining it.
I get why some might choose that due to their own strategic priorities. But if we go down the path of "keep trying Brexit until every last person is convinced it can't work":
a) We risk crashing out.
b) People would blame the EU not Brexit #HowWeGotInThisMess
c) It's dishonest
🔻The Tories want to endanger the Belfast Agreement which the EU won't allow. And even this Brexit will be rejected.
🔻Labour's Brexit must meet the 6 tests. That means Single Market & Customs Union. Parliament would never approve that for the same reasons we're stuck now.

Barry Gardiner says a Labour Brexit would mean the UK would have a veto over the EU's trade deals, despite not being an EU member. More false promises about Brexit. This country deserves better.
He just proved that a general election now would be POINTLESS!

In fairness, Gardiner then goes on to say they'd put that deal to the people, but that deal will never exist.
That would put us in the exact same position we're in now, (no viable deal), but we'd have simply wasted several months.

"We would have a customs union" = Same trade deals. No customs checks as the same tariffs apply either side.
"Not a rule taker" i.e. we're not in any deals we don't like.
If we can say no for ourselves, then we can say no for the EU ➡️VETO

I am sick of hearing warnings about how if #Brexit is cancelled it will result in violence and therefore we should go ahead with brexit through fear of racists
A lot of this comes from the right who know their project #Brexit is falling apart but whoever now expects anything better or indeed anything good at all from them. It's when you hear it from left wingers it really angers me
People who are receptive to the idea that immigrants have taken the jobs or depressed wages or pushed up housing costs or stretched public services often have genuine grievances in employment housing or access to health and education which are ignored

A thread on this kind of reaction which seems to question why business isn't as prepared as it "should be" (since I see this narrative gaining traction in some political quarters) /1
Most SMEs don't have large compliance departments and can only prepare with clear information about alternative future arrangements, much of which still is not known - even under-no deal (will we have more BIPs and where for example?) /2
Many firms actually have day jobs to get on with, like keeping a business afloat under known quantity circumstances, and the idea of throwing resource at a problem which not exist in March or foregoing contracts before necessary is hardly savvy or prudent /3
