There has been a great deal of speculation surrounding the Trump, Mueller and Rosenstein meeting the day before the Special Counsel was appointed. My own take on it was: unbeknownst to POTUS, in preparation for his own interests, Rosenstein was introducing Mueller to his target. 
The group of actors within the usurpation are far more cunning and Machiavellian than people give them credit for. Each participant looking out for his/her own interests. The common threat was, and is, President Trump. Within corrupt institutions there are no allies.
