Youth from Lanao del Sur & Maguindanao provinces show overwhelming support for the BOL. In contrast, majority of youth respondents from Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi provinces and Midsayap, Carmen, Pigkawayan towns in North Cotabato were each either not in favor or unsure of the BOL.
Of all the youth respondents, 83% said they were familiar with the #BOL. Sixty-four (64%) percent of those who are familiar with the BOL signified their intention to vote during the plebiscite.
Expectedly, the youth share the belief that #BOL is needed to address #rebellion. However, data also shows that the youth expect that the BOL will also help in poverty alleviation, countering and preventing terrorist activities, minimizing corruption, and fighting crime.
Youth were polarized the most regarding the impact of #BOL in the following issues. These show that it would be important to look at critical issues where there is disagreement. Those advocating for the BOL may consider putting more effort into addressing these issues.
The youth respondents voting in favor and those not in favor of the Bangsamoro Organic Law were polarized on how the measure will benefit non-Muslims. The youth not in favor do not think that the #BOL will benefit non-Muslims.
