Point taken but I MUST state that this Tweet will be misread as it has been constructed to leave room for subjective interpretations. Who is Lagos? We MUST never agree to the construct that certain felons who procured the crown from impoverished families now represent LAGOS.
Lagos was a capital city, a nodal city and transit zone. A no man’s land if you may. It was and remains a trade centre & one of the largest cities in the world. By implication, we MUST not cede this to one bandit raping the state serially because we allowed it due to illiteracy.
The Igbos, like other tribes were instrumental to the growth of Lagos with their mercantilism and lateral growth movement. They are catalytic to the economic growth of the city and nation at large, a consistent & diligent trade-culture some indolent Frauds now take advantage of.
Remove the non-indigenes of Lagos and you have a ghost town of zombies who can hardly live in the functional prime areas carved out for the bourgeois. The indigenes are the canon fodders being isolated and discriminated against economically. They are the displaced and victimized.
Except for the privileged few from reputable elitist families. Even the historical land owner-families are entrenched in poverty and their lands taken under Police Power and overriding public interest. Only to end up as private estates development of Governors. Lagos is Us.
What we allow continues. Lagos MUST be for All. Lagos Must prosper All. For this to happen we must never reinforce their narrative. A jellied-spine, loquacious and privileged muppet that rules over a short dark alley in Lagos can not determine the fate of millions in a democracy.
We are Lagos and Lagos is Us. We don’t hate anyone based on their Clan, Clout, Craze, or Creed. We are all in Lagos to express ourselves and collaborate not only to make ends meet but recognize the fact that we are society. The more we integrate the better for all.

End
The sub-literate and canon fodders deployed as e-rodents seeking what to be offended by will soon pick on a phrase in the thread to chew as cod for relevance. I deliberately added it to reveal their illiteracy and lack of depth. “Lagos is a no man’s land if you may” is contextual
It’s in no way invalidating the fact that there’re genuine & indigenous Lagosians. If we can unlearn a little, a “City is a Living Organism” to planners and educated elites and the more it grows the more the diversity. Lagos is no different from Tokyo, New York or City of London.
A time comes when entitlement of indigenous rights may not be enough in a capitalistic environment. Your land value rises, you structures are obsolete by new designs of biz & accommodation units of sojourning biz tourists. People own real estates in countries they’ve never been.
Thanks to the local imperialists you hail to power, they will continue to seize lands of indigenes while exploiting the loopholes in the land use Act to fend for themselves and venerate themselves as Overlords. Land is Capital only because it attracts access to investment funds..
...but in modern day Lagos, the land owned and traded by 70% of the population can not attract capital or loans nor be used as collateral security because they are dead assets. They have no legal documents that confers land rights worthy enough for trade. Voidable contracts.
So what exactly is the worth of indigenous rights that only massages Your Ego with nothing tangible in social safety contract? Where are your infrastructure & amenities? What is Govt paying you? Are they accountable to you? Who represents you? But go ahead and get offended.
The Igbos are not in anyway in danger in Lagos. They are mostly indigenes now. They buy and own properties without apprehension far more than other tribes can in Igbo land. How many Igbos have been warned not to buy real estate in Lagos. It is not even a concern.
We must lay the blames on individuals when they err and never rub it on the entire state. No one speaks for anyone in Lagos. Our rulers are representing only their own interest. This is why the next election must be a referendum on the critical issue of accountability.
My eyes are on @BOGconcept and @jimiagbaje still. No one is going to ask for your Tribe at the polling booth. If you reside in Lagos and care for the future of your kids, don’t reinforce imperialism. Stop assuming the future is forlorn. Power resides in you. Think and act right.
How many indigenes in Abuja of today own lands that is worthy for use as collateral security without the need for perfection of title? Can they foot the bill for perfection? Are they the owners of the properties in the high brow areas? What’s the value of their Indigenous Rights?
I’m sure those indigenes too will be willing to send in suicide bombers to the TLs of anyone who elucidates their predicament under constitutional oppression that reduced them into peasants on their own lands. Political illiterates are only wired to emote & never to reason.
What Distinguished @jimiagbaje tweeted simply cleared the ambivalence on the state of mind of the status quo (establishment). They may not approve of the domineering demeanor of the Igbos based on their distinctive trade & industrious culture but they love to covet their votes.
He went further to illustrate by citing the statement made by a dissident king of a few streets in Lagos Island who said on live TV that the Igbos will be drowned in the lagoon if they don’t vote their muppet Ambode to Power. Sadly people took his hate speech seriously.
They equated his hate speech to the state of mind of the entire “Lagosians.” This was all on us and our belief system not on the oppressors. Mentioning this need not shift the blame to the chronicler who is merely reviewing history. The issue is what it is. Jimi is not the enemy.
The past doesn’t disappear on command. We the people must rise up and take responsibility for the future we long to see. Their violence, belligerence and tantrums online must never lead to voter apathy on our side. Our voice must be heard. Don’t be sucker punched into submission.
