Macron's concessions highlighted the connection between the Eurozone crisis and Green policies. What if EU govts can't pay for Global Warming policies without tanking their economies and/or provoking upheaval?
The problem is they must tax economic activity to pay for green policy and each time around it's harder to tax. They are trying to starve the system back to health but it may wind up killing them.
Thought experiment. Why would an an economic crash and mass human starvation not be good for the planet? Fewer cars, factories, less wasteful agriculture, less people . It's monstrous but how does it fail to solve the problem as specified?
If the end of the world is really coming what price would you not pay to avert it?
Of course no one would do this but logically what kind of argument is "of course"? The European crisis is forcing us to examine the logical premises of the Paris Accord. It could never be painless. The only question is : how much pain?
