@IanDunt I suspect it's very logical. Suppose Brexit is an article of near-religious faith for you i.e. you've believed this so long and it's so clear to you based on stuff you keep reading in your confirmation bias bubble that you've blocked any psychological escape route from that faith
@IanDunt And yet Brexit is now under severe pressure & may not even happen. How can this be, "as it is so obviously needed"? You need a way out and the only unblocked door in your psychology is No Deal. You convince yourself that's therefore what you always wanted and what everyone wanted
@IanDunt You mentally sweep away any blockers including all facts about No Deal because you can do no other. To outsiders you may appear to double-down on stupidity in the full face of truth. again because you can do no other. All that you've ever believed depends on this happening.
@IanDunt The stakes really are that high. You will seek out traitors, a bully/victimhood narrative, "remoaners" - anything and everyone who may be to blame for stopping what is so obviously true to you. And you will suggest those others are at fault because they don't belieeeeve as you do
