India' new Transgender Rights Bill needs to rejected in totality by the Rajya Sabha for the following reasons (1/7) #StopTransBill2018
It nullifies the NALSA judgment sanctioned principle of self-identification. Under the bill, any person who wants to change their gender marker to "transgender" needs to appear before a screening committee which includes medical experts. (2/7) #StopTransBill2018
If you want to change your gender marker to male or female, the Bill further asks for evidence of a sex reassignment surgery. While the screening committee mechanism diluted the NALSA judgment's guarantees, this provision is in outright contempt of it. (3/7) #StopTransBill2018
The bill criminalizes begging by transgender persons (after a long struggle for decriminalization) without accounting for the institutional structures that leave trans persons with few other livelihood options. (4/7) #StopTransBill2018

Six years ago, as the hearings in Suresh Kumar Koushal began, I came out to my parents. They reacted with anger and sorrow, then took me to a psychiatrist who informed all of us that homosexuality was a mental disorder which he could cure with aggressive treatment. (2/5)

The third day of the #Section377 Constitution Bench hearing was a mix of pointed arguments from the lawyers arguing for decriminalization and horrific hate speech masquerading as submissions from the respondents who finally began their arguments. Thread on Respondents' arguments.
As with the 2012 hearings, there was little substance in what they actually had to say. Unlike the 2012 hearings, the judges did not allow these digressions to go on for long.
“How can we promote bestiality” began one lawyer, to which he was swiftly cut off by Justice Nariman – “Nobody has argued bestiality!”.

As of August 2017, the Artist's Union England determines the following hourly rates for an artist to be fair; £21.04 p/hr for a new graduate artist. That's about $28 dollars for my US friends. This goes up to £27.27 p/hr for 3 yrs+ exp, and £31.47 per hour for 5 years or more. /2
If you are doing sessional/daily rates such as presentations, consultations and installations. You should be looking at £166.24 p/day (£ 83.12 p/ 1⁄2 day) for a new grad artist, £218.19 p/day (£109.10 p/ 1⁄2 day) 3 yrs+ exp, £270.14 p/day (£135.07 p/ 1⁄2 day) 5 yrs+ exp. /3
