People are having a hard time processing this tweet from seven years ago, to the day. Well, there's another way to look at it: The man knows what he is doing.
1. On Foreign Policy
Presidents are privy to far more than we as private citizens ever know. Unlike domestic policy, where no secret national security and confidential diplomacy issues are involved, I try not to second-guess presidents on foreign policy in-the-moment.
2. Only after sufficient time has passed for results to be evident and confidentiality issues to become moot do I feel confident in passing judgment on a president's foreign policy maneuvers. In the moment, I take every president at their word on foreign policy matters.
3. That is not to say I don't have an opinion "in the moment" when foreign policy maneuvers are taking place. How can I not? I have an opinion like everyone else, but I never feel too strongly about it.
4. Way too much is unknown to us who are on the outside, and I don't trust any "foreign policy experts," because I have yet to come across a foreign policy 'expert' who is worth listening to in terms of what a President should do in the moment.

The End.
Just so anyone thinks I am rationalizing my lack of vehement opposition to Trump's decision on Syria "in the moment," see this dialogue I had with someone five months ago. I have always had the same views on foreign policy, especially in matters of war.
There's more to Syria pullout than meets the eye. Give it some time. If ISIS fighters in Syria (the small leftover gang) don't have to watch their back for U.S. attacks, maybe they can turn their full attention on fighting Assad, Russians, and Iranians.
