(THREAD) Why should you give to @FianzaFund (FianzaFund.org/donate) on #FreeThePeopleDay?

We started the fund in collaboration with detained comrades in WTX and NM, who identified the need for a solidarity fund. Since January, we've posted over 50 bonds, made hundreds of $$ in commissary/phone payments, and supported families through bond hearings and release.

Grassroots fundraising and cmty volunteers allowed us to post nearly $300K in bonds this year, all without staff or overhead. We follow-up with people we bond out to help them navigate court dates and life outside detention.

We've collaborated with families and orgs like @ImmFamTogether @RAICESTEXAS @NMILC @ctbailfund @workersdefense to help liberate:

-expecting parents
-a joven transferred from Tornillo on his 18th bday
-families separated at the border
-workers picked up in raids
-hunger strikers

We're especially proud to be in solidarity with our queer comrades, who face added hardships in detention.

30% of bonds we've posted have been for LGBTQ individuals, including 9 compañerxs detained in the notorious and isolated Cibola (NM) 'trans pod.'

When people bond out, they tend to be amazing advocates!

Just 1 example: Jocelyn was one of the 1st mothers separated from her child by the admin's zero tolerance policies. She won her son back, beat the gov't in a lawsuit, and became a voice for justice!
