Advice to a friend dealing with their chaotic startup...

Startups are inherently chaotic. No chaos = no opportunity. Startups exist because there is uncertainty, and new things to learn. (1/7) #startup
During a period of rapid growth, all things (structures, processes, etc.) eventually break. Some chaos is self-inflicted, and too much chaos can cause collapse / chronic harm (2/7) #startup
Agility is solving today’s problem, while not limiting your ability to solve tomorrow’s problem. There’s always a temptation to solve tomorrow’s problems.

There are good ideas everywhere, and opportunities everywhere. So focus is hard (3/7) #startup

2/ Is "incremental" a dirty word? No. But to most people it #feels less exciting & flashy than "#disruptive." Yes, I said #feels. Bc most ppl probably will not read Ivy's excellent article or this tweetstorm bc they're not on Twitter. To them all this sounds/#feels like jargon.

This is a good tweet about the idiocy and classism that permeates #startup culture. I have some thoughts.
In Startup Land, if you're not leveraging technology or "solving a problem," you're not allowed to be part of the club.

If you're not coming to the table with an entirely original idea (no matter how dumb), then good luck finding support.
This approach is harmful because it invalidates most entrepreneurship and it ignores a huge swath of the U.S. economy.

An #ElevatorPitch is basically a 15-30 second speech that succinctly explains to people who you are, what you do or what you’re seeking. The idea is that you can deliver your pitch to someone in the amount of time it will take an elevator to get you both where you're going
