1) Corbyn supporters & adopting the attitude of Brexiters

I appreciate there's been some spats between #FBPE and Corbyn supporters & there's even a #BlockFBPE hashtag going around. Both sides accuse each other of not listening and being abusive

But here's some reflections
2) Remainers can be sympathetic with the Bunker mentality that springs up when a group feels under attack, its what kept Remain going to a certain extent

However, in my own view this is in danger of turning into an adoption of brexiter attitudes & even language, which is worrying
3) Firstly, the very idea of the #BlockFBPE hashtag is itself destructive. We all need to block sometimes but group silencing people as a default just because of a hashtag is a very disturbing action and is reminiscent of similar shutdowns by brexiters
4) secondly, it's understandable that Corbyn supporters want to see a GE & want to believe that Corbyn can do what he says he can do, negotiate a better #Brexit deal

But when faced with the sheer arithmetic of 85 days left till we leave some are adopting Brexiter thinking
5) because a GE & a Labour #Brexit renegotiation needs the EU27 to unilaterally agree to an A50 extension, one Corbyn supporter said to me "they want a deal, they need our £40b"

Another said "the EU always negotiate up to the wire"

Barry Gardiner even said "5th largest economy"
6) this is exactly the same language Vote Leave & Brexiters used, that the EU27 can essentially be blackmailed with money, or backed into a corner.

It utterly failed with the Brexiters & yet Corbyn supporters (and the Leadership) are using the same language & attitude
7) even the very idea that the EU27 will renegotiate when they have clearly stated they haven't is the same arrogant dismissal of 27 sovereign nations & their individual priorities that got us here in the first place
8) finally, obviously there's 2 sides to any debate however all though Corbyn supporters will engage, in many cases as soon as they are hit with a difficult question they will jump to whataboutery, straw manning or muting/blocking
9) again, it's understandable that many people want a Corbyn government & recognise that #Brexit is essentially in the way. Whilst Remainers prioritise addressing Brexit others prioritise Corbyn, I don't understand that but people make their own choices
However...
10) if you need to retreat to Brexiter thinking & logic & are rationalising strongarming 27 sovereign countries to make the square peg of a Corbyn Government fit the round hole of 85 days till Brexit, on the way shutting out alternative voices, you're probably on the wrong track
11) Brexiters wanted #Brexit and ended up acting irrationally to get it. Faith replaced logic & facts, a belief that 27 nations would bow to 1 became the only plan because nothing else was available

Even now Brexiters want to gamble everything and go to the wire with the UK
12) David Davis, Mogg & others want us to push to the edge, threatening no deal to get a better deal. This is grossly irresponsible.

But frankly so is gambling on a GE with 85 days to go till we crash out.
13) from the UKs point of view pushing for a GE right up to the wire and then gambling that a) Corbyn will win & b) will be able to force the EU27 into an extension and renegotiation days before we crash out is, frankly, equally irresponsible

And Labour are the good guys
14) I hate to say it but I suggest that perhaps many Corbyn supporters have perhaps lost sight of what and who they are fighting for.

Because gambling with the country is still gambling with jobs, security, prosperity & people's lives

Just like the brexiters
