The Government may have informally asked the EU about an Article 50 Extension - we presume not for any serious reason (no-deal prep, election, referendum) but in the vague hope this somehow helps the PM's deal pass Parliament
Under three months from leaving the EU by law and we have a Government without a plan.
It is not clear that the UK Government has learned anything about negotiating with the EU over the past two and a half years
David Davis has certainly learned nothing from negotiating with the EU. And the BBC have learned nothing in continuing to give him a platform to spread his ignorance to the country

As forecast the UK Government has committed to following a significant part of single market rules after Brexit as part of the backstop and commitments to Northern Ireland (doc - assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/upl…)
Although the Government paper says this will be "only a small fraction of EU rules", in fact there are nearly 70 pages of the Withdrawal Agreement simply listing the regulations Northern Ireland will have to follow under the backstop (example page below)
In case you are missing the significance, the UK Government has confirmed that the whole country will follow EEA / single market disciplines without any representation until a new deal can be agreed.

Brexit is testing Parliamentary procedure. The Government does not command a majority.

Might as well break protocol further, it is time for a Parliamentary committee to take control of the Brexit process.
Yes, I can think of many reasons why this won't work, but nothing that would work better. We're going to be stuck in Parliamentary bickering for weeks unless something new is done.

Most important point, which cannot be emphasised enough - the Withdrawal Agreement is primarily concerned with the terms of the divorce, e.g. financial, citizenship, and not the future (though the Irish backstop complicates this) 2/
Thus any statement a Minister makes about the future relationship being secured (such as that below from the Gov's 40 reasons to back the Brexit deal) is false. The political declaration setting out the future relationship is not binding. 3/

I just had to point out to Tim that it is our own government who hasn't been implementing EU laws on controlling migration and hasn't properly documented #EUcitizens living in the UK, as they do in other EU countries.
He just admitted he needs to go back and "check his books." 🙄
This woman quite rightly pointing out that if we don't pay the £39bn financial obligation... then who else is going to pay @Nigel_Farage's pension? 🤔 Tim says his research hasn't led him to any answers.

Apologies if I'm being obtuse. But those calling for second referendum tend to claim that the facts have changed since June 2016

But...have they really?

It's true UK economy is growing less than predicted. But it's growing far more than Remain campaign predicted it would now...
...Some say Leave promised trade deals and ask where they are. Well - the UK hasn't even left the EU yet. And anyway we'd have more chance of getting on with those if MPs didn't keep threatening to force the Government into a Customs Union with EU post-Brexit.....
...Others point to the so-called Brexit bill saying it wasnt raised during referendum. But we literally spent months discussing the size of the UK's contribution to the EU and it was perfectly obvious that the EU was going to ask for commitments during the MAFF to be honoured....
