This @Telegraph editorial expresses perfectly the reaction that at least some us who believe in the #Brexit project had to PM May's proposal on Friday: we have been defeated; nominal changes can't hide the de facto cancellation of the referendum result. telegraph.co.uk/opinion/2018/0…

Even when getting people to the point of admitting that the U.S. is supporting the #PKK and that's a problem, there has been a tendency to then speak as if it's a political problem for U.S.-#Turkey relations, rather than PKK being of itself a problem.
The #PKK was on the other side in the Cold War. It's doctrine is anti-Western at its core: its campaign against #Turkey is framed as one where the state is illegitimate because it is the imprint of Western imperialism. The PKK has the same view of #Israel.
The PKK fled Turkey after the coup in 1980, and was nurtured under the Asad regime, acting as a cut-out for the Soviet Union. After training at the Palestinian terrorist camps in Lebanon, the PKK launched its war against Turkey, a frontline NATO state, and was harboured in Syria.

#YPG/#PKK publicly invites the #Asad/#Iran system into the border areas, particularly Minbij, which was captured because of the efforts of the U.S., working in coordination with #Turkey, having promised that the city would be handed over to local rule after #IS was gone.
It doesn't seem that the #PKK has handed Minbij to the #Asad/#Iran system just yet, though a regime delegation visited this morning.
Worth noting here that the #SDF/#PKK opened Minbij up to Asad's secret police a long time ago, and if the Asad regime is present it means Iranian operatives are, too. thedailybeast.com/us-arms-kurds-…

Never mind "the public didn't believe project fear", this is reality and yes, for many people they don't care about economic impacts

But not 52% - 52% did not believe we would be poorer & weaker and voted Leave anyway

Leave would never have won & would never win again if the public knew the reality of #Brexit

The only strategy they have is to lie that WTO/crash out/no deal is perfectly acceptable & reasonable & mislead people with "World Trade Deal" bullshit

on Dec 11 will allow the UK to renegotiate the Irish backstop, specifically the right to leave unilaterally.

1. They actually want to avoid a hard border
2. Political solidarity

As a remoaner I have long not accepted the result of #brexit however I have been persuaded by a new brexlutionary kind of democratic legitimacy
The leavers never accepted the 67/33 result of the 1975 referendum and campaigned for 40yrs to overturn it. It follows therefore I should shut up and accept #Brexit
Nigel farage said 52 48 would be unfinished business by a long way and had it been a narrow remain vote he'd have been demanding a 2nd ref so obviously It is outrageous that #Brexit are doing exactly what farage would have done

1/ I'm more worried by the politics of #Brexit than the economics; the democracy-weakening torrent of lies, the rage against the rule of law over A50, the attacks on the civil service & electoral commission, the fascistic invocations of the "Will of the People" etc..

2/ As with Trump, the #Brexit right from the PM downwards is attacking the practices, rights and institutions that ground democracy - basic honesty, the right to oppose, legal checks on government, and the impartiality of the civil services & electoral commission.
3/ And one has to ask, is this just disorganised rage within a part of the political elite against anything seen as hindering #Brexit, which would be dangerous enough, or is its prevalence across the Atlantic a sign of a much more coordinated campaign to undermine democracy?

1. This whole debacle is stupid. This is all on the Tory phobia of being a rule taker. This is the issue illiteracy that both sides suffer from. the fact is that unless you are a regulatory superpower you are a rule taker. The only question is how and from where?

2. Supposing Mrs May's proposal had been workable, we'd end up adopting rules verbatim from the EU implementing ECJ decisions directly. Tories squeal about this yet bizarrely that is exactly what Switzerland does and Brexiters have been telling us Switzerland is a viable model.
3. So for all the indignation they have shifted the goalposts, denying, of course, the need for regulatory harmonisation to facilitate NI trade. This is pure dishonesty at work. So what about the alternatives?

1. Time for a #Brexit history lesson. Us old school leavers bumped into the remain canard that "three million jobs" depend on the EU time and again over many years. So well worn were the arguments that Remain scarcely dare deploy that line during the referendum.
2. It was was easily countered by wa of saying that those jobs depended on trade with the EU, not membership of a political union. So there was always the historic inference that we wanted the maximum trade cooperation possible.
3. If asked if we would support a Brexit that would necessarily result in new barriers to trade, pretty much ecvery leaver would have said no. The infernence is that we would look to safeguard those three million jobs.
