Please explain to us, Zinnia, how you know for sure that there is *no possibility* that social contagion, internalized homophobia, trauma, or other causes & conditions specific to female adolescence could contribute to a girl believing she's trans?

That you are blind to those causes and conditions--even when they are described IN DETAIL by real, live, desisters--indicates that you lack understanding of the female experience. That is how you being an adult-transitioning MTF is relevant.
Littman herself noted limitations of the study--INCLUDING need to study youth who say they experienced ROGD, whether desisted or not. Proactively claiming ROGD can't possibly exist (as you do) isn't "scientific literacy." It's just bias in service of your preconceived notions.

2/ Let's put a fine point on it. These are the ppl who can't abide an INITIAL DESCRIPTIVE STUDY that surveyed parents of rapid-onset dysphoric teens. Two MTF journalists, MTF Zinnia Jones, Zack Ford, and Rachel Health, the MTF author of a "Handbook of Transsexuality."
3/ Study was "designed to ruin the lives of young gender-diverse people." Really? Let's talk about the lives ruined by the relentless witchhunt led by adult-trans'ing MTFs, against families, desisters, & a new population of females who've heretofore been ignored by researchers.

It's entirely predictable now. The center-left (aka "mainstream") media refuses to cover the controversy of youth transition; all they do is cheerlead. All nuance is ceded to the right/center-right. When a journo dares to touch it, the MSM immediately cries "transphobia." #boring
Case in point: @WSJopinion publishes op-ed by writer who interviewed mothers whose teens experienced sudden gender dysphoria. @nytimes immediately claims "conservatives invented a syndrome" via puff piece by MTF whose teen now also claims a trans identity.

Never mind the mothers interviewed by @AbigailShrier are nearly all liberals (one is a former @PFLAG leader); never mind not one claimed to "diagnose" a "syndrome." @nytimes has abandoned investigative reporting on the topi. It continues to serve as a one-note propaganda outlet.

I think you just miss the fundamental purpose of identifying ROGD - the reason it’s currently classified as a social contagion & is researched is because it’s a new phenomenon that has primarily affected young women. If it were a diagnosis, there’d be guidelines for treatment.
@jessesingal the issue is that youth who rapidly begin to experience dysphoria after significant life changes, whether that’s traumatic or not, are treated by clinics & organizations as though they have chronically been dysphoric since adolescence. Transition isn’t the answer.
@jessesingal I think mothers (and parents) know a lot more about their children than people credit. Obviously some parents aren’t great, but it’s pretty obvious that something’s wrong if you go from being a stellar moderately anxious student to wanting HRT/surgery in a year.

For me, the real issue in the #trans #GRA reform is #maleviolence against #female & trans. I note #transmen seem to be absent from discussion. They obvs don't present as #women so don't use women's spaces. But they can't draw attention to themselves as trans because... (1/2)
(2/2) in a male space they would run the risk of attack by men who would see their bodies as still female. I can't find stats on transmen being violent, or female violence on transmen. I guess there will be some, but very small no's. The problem is male violence. #patriarchy...
So we need to be looking at #male #violence and how/why our society raises #boys to think violence is a way of dealing with the world. NB I know this is a generalisation and not all males are violent & not all females are peaceful!

Let me tell you a story (thread). When I came out to my mom at 17, I wasn’t too sure I was gay. Neither was she. Popular media and public representation mirrored only one specific caricature, and both of us (in our own minds) thought I couldn’t be gay
Coupled with the fact that while growing up I 1) barely ever saw any representation of queer individuals in media and 2) if I did, they were all the butt of all jokes, the tireless “omg that’s a man in a dress” tropes, led me to believe that I couldn’t be queer. No sir not me
Hence, I went back in the closet, thinking since there is only one way to be gay I DEFINITELY cannot be gay. It was only about a year after that that I learnt and realized how ridiculous that notion was
