John Minford, Sun Tzu 1-4: "Heaven is yin and yang, cold and hot, the cycle of the seasons."

Here we meet the yin and yang for the first time in Sun Tzu, and it will be something to keep ever in mind as we read him. In battle terms, weak and strong would be the best application, and note that weak comes first, strong second.

In the West, we always say these two in the other order, strong and weak. Essentially, we always place any yang term first, yin second, the reverse order. Note the application of cold and hot which follows, we'd say, "hot and cold."

Sun Tzu's definition ends with "the cycle of the seasons." This is a very dense reference. If you think about the Sun in the Heavens, and the changes in temperature during the seasons, you can feel some of the depth of the reference.

As we in the #MAGA movement contemplate this, the first place to go is to Mr. Yang, himself, @realDonaldTrump. I can't imagine what his life outside his public image might be, if there is such a thing. But in public his ALWAYS yang.

Remember, yang is hot, strong, male, aggressive, in motion, attacking, fighting,etc. In the ancient Greek tradition, Apollo, riding in his chariot pulling the Sun through its daily path would be 100% yang, and a perfect image of The Donald.

This is part of the reason why even those prudes among us, like me, forgive our POTUS for his sexual behaviors, as the Democrats - and the American people as a whole - forgave Bill Clinton, obviously another Apollo type! We knew these men were 100% yang, before electing them.

Consider the Swamp - and we will follow this more in tomorrow's meditation - it is the opposite of the bright, hot, heavenly power of yang. It sucks you in, into the damp, moist darkness of its earthy power. It is pure yin. You can see the ultimate conflict herein.

Make America GREAT Again is a yang statement. It hearkens back to our original greatness, and the light we shed upon world history, the first nation created by an idea, the first location where freedom ruled, by law. Our Revolution was the great moment of yang in human history.

For Sun Tzu, Heaven is the cycle of seasons. We must ask what season is it for America? We must also ask what a political season is? I say it is 8 years, 2 administrations. If, during the coming years, we complete the early stage of the #MAGA mission, our time is Spring.

Yes, there will be Spring storms. We must understand this. There is no fighting nature, and there is no defeating the Swamp rapidly, no fuss no muss. Rather, the battle is savage and the opposition is fierce. We must expect Spring storms as our weather forecast.

But be clear, Sun Tzu absolutely looks to the Heavens as the place where the ultimate will behind the universe expresses itself. This is no mere Western reading. For Sun Tzu, not only was Heaven the home of the Gods, it was the place of pure divine will.

Whatever you believe in, that drives the cycle of the seasons, is the meaning of Heaven in Sun Tzu. Were he here, an American now, Sun Tzu would rise and sing "God bless America" with perfect accord, complete belief. A nation, a general, must submit to the will of Heaven.

What we in the #MAGA Movement must determine is whether or not the will of Heaven is that we live up to our name. Will we make America great again? If so, then Heaven blesses our endeavor.

Or, we ourselves are unworthy of the moment.
