This is a respectable case for MPs to vote for the Brexit deal today. I would make a case for voting against based on the role of Parliament, failings of the deal itself, and what a vote for would mean for the future - even though business friends demand certainty...
The PM and Government have made no effort to seriously involve Parliament through the process, and Parliament should be making it entirely clear that this is unacceptable. Passing the deal would send entirely the wrong message about how future deals would be handled
The deal itself isn't particularly good - the backstop is not well defined, the UK suffers lack of consultation in a transition period, the Political Declaration could have provided significantly more detail and reassurance telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/…
Most significant for me, a vote in favour of this deal just delays the real decision we need to make about our future relationship - setting up another cliff edge, and the continued dominance of the issue in political dialogue.
We're already past the point where businesses are no-deal planning, though Government could set minds to rest there. It is worth taking a few more weeks now to see if we can do Brexit better, accepting that is optimistic on experience to date /end
