It's interesting to re-read Cohen's sentencing statement and brief in light of the BuzzFeed report. There's this excerpt from Cohen's brief, which seems to flatly declare that the false statements to Congress were "in accordance with Client 1's directives." /1

Then, later his team makes this statement, which indicates that Cohen was wanting to support Trump's public messaging and does not detail a specific Trump directive. It does, however, say he remained in close contact with WH staff and legal counsel. That's more ambiguous. /2
This is an interesting statement, from Cohen's sentencing statement:
"I was weak for not having the strength to question and to refuse his demands." /3

It is intriguing that we have a flat-out declaration from Cohen's legal team that the false statements to Congress were "in accordance with Client-1's directives." Is that a mistaken assertion? /end
