This is a very important report. IF IT IS TRUE, this is evidence remarkably similar to evidence used to build the impeachment counts against Clinton and Nixon. Both Clinton and Nixon encouraged witnesses to make false statements under oath: buzzfeednews.com/article/jasonl…

Quick thread.

It's interesting to re-read Cohen's sentencing statement and brief in light of the BuzzFeed report. There's this excerpt from Cohen's brief, which seems to flatly declare that the false statements to Congress were "in accordance with Client 1's directives." /1
Then, later his team makes this statement, which indicates that Cohen was wanting to support Trump's public messaging and does not detail a specific Trump directive. It does, however, say he remained in close contact with WH staff and legal counsel. That's more ambiguous. /2
This is an interesting statement, from Cohen's sentencing statement:

"I was weak for not having the strength to question and to refuse his demands." /3

I've noticed an increase in personal attacks against Alexandra from MAGA writers, including from people like @KurtSchlichter. Mostly they're aimed at her age or declaring her merely my sidekick, or something else designed to insult or belittle her. 2/
This is weak and pathetic. Alexandra is a smart and insightful writer and thinker who has greatly improved our podcast since she joined. She's also ready, willing, and able to engage in a battle of ideas. She's fearless. 3/

Elites aren’t irrelevant, but the Carlson focus on elites is just wrong. It’s factually wrong and has its own negative consequences as it focuses popular anger an energy away from the things that are most likely to help any given family succeed /3.

In 1619 one hundred poor English children (not Irish) between 8 and 16 years of age were sent to Virginia from London. This was a radical extension of the English Poor Law (1601) where the children of paupers were to be provided for by being bound out as apprentices.
