Yesterday we had the unveiling of Jaime's tombstone. In the Jewish religion, it is a ceremony that happens approx one year after burial. For us, it was reliving this pain all over again. I should have spend these past few months planning her Sweet 16 and instead, I did this.
At the unveiling, I spoke of her loss and I spoke of the fact that I am still her dad. As her dad, I will never stop dealing with what happened to her. Yesterday only reinforced how tragic and unfair this was.
Yesterday only reinforced for me my original decision to weaken the gun lobby. Yesterday only reinforced for me my mission to remove the gun lobby from the legislative process of gun safety. Kids should come home to parents and parents should go home to kids.

(1,4) I will never forget this Presidential tweet from the day I buried my daughter and the pain it caused me. The President received a full briefing from FBI Dir the prior day on Parkland shooting and knew it had nothing to do with Russia, it was a failure at a call center.
(2,4) He chose to lie about what he knew and made the death of my daughter political on the day I buried her. At the funeral in my eulogy, I mentioned this tweet and begged the President not to make the death of my daughter political and instead to work with our community and me
(3,4) on doing something about what happened. He then asked DeVos to start a commission on what happened but NOT to look at guns as a factor. For me, you cannot offer a plan that refuses to look at this critical part. For me, this makes her plan inadequate.

(1,5) The 17 victims families were invited today to the White House. While I am appreciative of those who went and thankful for the work that they are doing on gun safety, I chose not to go. Simply put, we were invited for a private briefing on the Betsy Devos safety plan.
(2,5) I have been critical of this plan as she has said from the very first day that she would not allow the commission to look at the role of guns in the gun violence that took the life of my daughter. You cannot honestly solve a problem if you will not look at critical factors.

"I was never a voice in the gun violence debate before, but I will be now. Let me be clear, I have been triggered. With you by my side, I will fight. For those of you who do not know me and what I can be like when I take on a cause, I will be relentless.
This will be my life’s cause going forward. The Orange Ribbon Movement started by Jaime’s beautiful dance sisters in Parkland Florida has become the rallying cry for the fight against gun violence. We will win, and we will be able to safely send our kids to school.

When I was around ten years old, I was at a park with an older girl who bullied me relentlessly in the first grade. She was a few years older than me. We had gone there together because her mother was one of my mother’s best friends. We were expected to get along. (Cont’d)
This park was famous for having a cement slide built up into the hill on the east side of the park, that curved around and around. We used to sit on big pieces of wax paper and go down the slide to make ourselves go faster. It really worked.
The slide ended in a square pit of sand, in case you needed a soft landing if you flew off the slide at the end.

There were generally older adults around and kids were pretty good about taking turns going down the slide at of staggered pace.

Try to avoid talking about your past mistakes and losses.
All you'll be doing is reopening old wounds and re-living the same pain all over again, time after time.

People feel the need to speak about their mistakes, it eases the pain, but you still feel it regardless
It's ok to talk about to one-2 friends/family members about your pain, but that should be it.

Many people would tell their pain/worries to everybody who would listen.
It's dangerous, it sends you into a spiral of pain.
Talk more> Feel more pain> Feel the need to talk more> more pain etc'

I can understand the need to vent, but what does talking so much help you with? How many words of comfort do you need to feel good?

All different races of Mankind are derived from Manu and Shradha. The current Manu is Vaivasvata Manu.
2/ The word Manu literary means man but it is a title given to the progenitor of mankind. According to Hindu Puranas there are many kalpas (One day of Lord Brahma the creator) and each Kalpa has 14 manvantara and each manvatara has one manu. So basically each Kalpa has 14 Manus.
3/ The current manu of the present manvantara is Shraddhadeva or Vaivasvata Manu of this current Kalpa. He is the son of Vivasvat (Probably Surya) and is therefore also known as Manu-vaivasvata.
