Between this and Phillips not even serving in Vietnam this story will have 10 more twists before it’s over. Tomorrow the kids are gonna turn out to be Native American and the Black Israelites will be teachers at Covington. We cannot escape.

This shit happens every time. Once the original cartoonish story falls apart, the issue devolves into a battle about which side is good or bad. From there it never ends and everyone forgets about the original claim which was the only reason it went viral in the first place.
Everyone has turned into overzealous prosecutors who investigate a crime and then when the case falls apart they charge everyone with everything they can think of just to get their stats up.

FWIW, the trope of “hippies spat on returning soldiers” was an urban legend created to drive a wedge between the very close connection between Vietnam veterans and anti-war activists, which is one reason I knew Phillips was lying about his service.
Read Lembcke’s The Spitting Image. Vietnam veterans were very active in the anti-war movement, and there are ZERO contemporary accounts of any returning soldiers being spat on. Nixon and future administrations pushed this idea to discredit the anti-war movement. It’s propaganda.
This is how I knew Phillips was lying about being a Vietnam veteran. The veterans in my family have weird stories and downplay their service. But like most fabulists, Phillips’ stories are just a collection of popular cultural tropes from movies. More: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spitt…

Strzok's lawyer said the move to fire him undercuts repeated assurances Strzok would be afforded the normal disciplinary process. He was fired by FBI Director Wray's Deputy Bowdich, overriding Office of Prof Responsibility. Trump's abusive pressure on DOJ & Sessions is working.
Wray, Sessions bowed to Trump's improper pressure to fire Strzok, one of "bad players" on his purge list. Trump's already using it to further press to end Mueller, even tho Strzok hasn't been on Russia probe for over a yr. This is a dangerous erosion of independence in FBI & DOJ.
