Imagine the media coverage if a group of Muslim students was slandered by a deceptively edited video pushed into conservative media by a troll network and then we learned the activist who set them up misrepresented his military service and tried to barge into a mosque.
Imagine when the story started falling apart, right-wing social media accounts began dredging up unrelated video clips of other people, and making sinister insinuations about innocent activities, in a desperate bid to make the school attended by these Muslim children look bad.
And then Tucker Carlson has one of the Muslim students on his show and asks if he feels sorry about anything he's done, suggesting he should have treated the right-wing activist who falsely claimed to be a Vietnam vet with a little more respect when he got in the kid's face.
And then we learned Fox News was frantically digging around for dirt, offering a megaphone to anyone who wants to come forward and complain about the Muslim school, anything at all would do, no matter how long ago it happened.
What would the mainstream media coverage of that scenario be like? How do you think the Muslim students and their tormentor would be treated? Would anyone be telling President Barack Obama to stay out of it? /end
ADDENDUM: Imagine the Muslim school is shut down for days on end due to death threats from right-wingers, while Fox News interviews the conservative activist who staged the confrontation and asks if he "forgives" the kids who can't go to school because he went after them.
