Publicly mocked rape survivors, reinstated the global gag rule, appointed fewer female cabinet members than the last five administrations, hired and defended domestic abusers, removed protections for campus assault victims, defunded family nutritional assistance programs...
Eliminated reproductive health from the UN Human Rights Report, denied asylum to thousands of women and children, put an accused sexual abuser in the Oval Office and only backed down when a woman speaker finally said no.

And you want to know why I want a woman for president?

If you’re getting whiplash from the amount of spin being placed on the Covington Catholic boys, remember that this is how privilege (and in accordance, rape culture) works. It’s formulaic. I could have predicted the arc from the moment the story hit. It goes like this:
1) an incident occurs where a privileged male (or males) commits an offense against someone with less privilege. Often a crime, though in this case it was inactionable but abhorrent intimidation and abuse (another theme women are very familiar with)
2) bystanders are unlikely to intervene, though they may come forward later to report what they saw. No one personally associated with the offenders will. Other men who share their privilege may chime in after another less privileged person and/or the victim speaks up.

Sure, thanks for asking.

Ask what solutions women want to see; work toward those resolutions.

Approach misogynistic behavior with empathy first, but cut ties with stubborn misogynists and tell them why.

If you see or hear harassment, state with clarity that it’s unacceptable.
Amplify female voices.

Teach others that sexual attraction and objectification are not the same thing. Don’t tolerate the latter.

Resist the urge to take a protective role - be a partner. Support and backup creates the same safety without silencing.

Don’t get defensive.
Use your privilege to step in where others stomp out. Speak up for women whose ideas are talked over or ignored.

Elevate qualified women by vouching on their behalf.

Vote for qualified women.

Push back against legislation that controls women.

Push for the ERA.

A: A legally protected status that allows asylees to live, work and receive some benefits in the United States. Asylees are eligible to apply for legal residency after one year. They pay taxes on any and all wages they earn.
Who can apply for asylum?

A: anyone who is (1) not a US citizen, and (2) is physically present inside the US or at a designated port of entry, regardless of their immigration status
