People in the left, automatic solidarity towards Maduro is not in your best interest.
Not just that Maduro isn't a "leftist" but what happened yesterday in Venezuela isn't a coupe, far from that.
As what you'd call "a leftist" myself, let me try to explain myself
Let start by saying that I've been a true leftist all my life, started as a communist when I was 15yo and now, at 47yo more around social-democracy, yesm that AOC and Bernie social-democracy
Ok, let's start at the beginning. The reason Venezuela is where it is right now has nothing to do with USA sanctions, Venezuelan economy was pretty much in hell before Obama sanctions to Venezuelan individuals, until like today, USA was still the first oil client of Venezuela
Besides, the reason Maduro's legitimacy in being questioned today has nothing to do with the US and everything to do with this:

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand people being suspicious because of Trump administration involvement in these last events, I don't like Trump, not a little bit, but this is not exactly what you think, there's USA recognition but -at least so far- not USA intervention
What happened yesterday is just another day in a process that started long ago, when Chavism called to presidential elections thru the "Constituent National Assembly", in illegitimate figured ('cause it didn't fulfil the constitutional requirements to be created)...
... with no competence in the matter, also banned opposition political parties and didn't meet the requirements for a legal, just and transparent elections. On hijacking the elections Maduro became an usurper of Venezuelan presidency.
Being that the case, the Venezuelan Constitution establishes that the president of the National Assembly (the Speaker of the House in the US or the Lead of the House of Commons in the UK) has the constituent mandate to assume the temporary presidency and call to new elections
So what Guaidó did yesterday wasn't a "self-proclamation" but swearing to fulfil the duties the Constitution demands from him, this is not a coupe.
It also worth explaining that doing it the way he did it is, according to Venezuelan laws, completely valid
Last but not least, Guaidó belongs to Voluntad Popular, a center-left party (like most parties in Venezuela), so this is hardly a "right vs. left" issue.
If you read all of this, thank you and I commend you for your bravery. If something is not clear, feel free to ask, I'll do my best to answer
