“How To Be Successful" from @sama is a great read. Subtly tackles the four great questions from a rare perspective.

What is real?
What is the good life?
Who is a good person?
How do you become a good person?

Clips are his. Comments are mine.

How you set opportunity cost matters.

Setting against current circumstances creates incremental improvement, while benchmarking against future goals can create step functions of growth, or cause you to pass on the best options waiting for better ones.

It's complicated.
The challenge of focusing on self-belief and self-awareness is the focus on self.

Favorite definition of pride: “Individuals motivated by self-interest, self-indulgence, and a false sense of self-sufficiency pursue selfish ambition for the purpose of self-glorification.”
All communication is merely an articulation of facts and logic in an effort to change someone else’s opinions and actions.

When a transaction is involved, we call it “sales.”
“Good decisions” combine favorable probabilities with asymmetric risk/reward payoffs.

Having more to wager enlarges the range of available bets, but shouldn’t affect the decision.
"A majority of life's errors are caused by forgetting what one is really trying to do." -Munger

Without a clear understanding of purpose, each decision becomes an exercise in ambiguity.
1) Work is a gift and is inherently good.

2) Working hard is a grateful response to that gift.

3) Turning work into something ultimate is dangerous and always destructive.

4) We were made for hard work and hard rest.
People are everything. People are the ends, not the means, but together people can be the means to the beautiful ends of helping more people.
“Living in the light of your death will help you to live wisely and freely and generously.”
