<rant> You cannot become more Agile (or somehow get "better control" of your process) with spyware built on the 19th century principles of Taylorism. Just came across a repulsive product called BlueOptima that does just that. (Of course, Jira incoprates similar garbage.) 1/
Their web page says: "Unprecedented transparency of who is doing what makes for awesome Sprint Retrospection." The notion flies in the face of basic principles. It amplifies a culture of blame, focusing on individual, not the team. It completely ignores user value. 2/
It emphasizes individual "performance," with no consideration of the actual value of the work or understanding that the point of a retrospective is to solve organizational process problems, not single out individuals for blame. 3/
It's also promoting an actively destructive view of a retrospective: that individuals are somehow responsible for your problems rather than the culture of mistrust and dysfunction that anybody who thinks this is a good approach will inevitably create. 4/
"Transparency" must go both ways. Windows are transparent. One-way mirrors that you use to spy on people are not. I'm all in favor of transparency, so let's take a close look at the attitudes of the clowns who think a product like this is a good idea. </rant> 5/5
