This profile of Kamala Harris is interesting but odd. It discusses her diverse background (father was Jamaican immigrant; mother was Indian immigrant) and her sense of American identity w/o mentioning that she lived in Canada from the ages of 12-18. (1)

At one point, the story suggests that these Canadian years never happened. Take a look at this passage: it implies that Harris went to college straight from Oakland. In fact, she graduated from HS in Montreal and then moved back to the States to attend Howard. (2)
I don’t subscribe to the belief that living in Canada for formative years makes Harris insufficiently American to be president. But I think it's a mistake for stories like this to omit those years, as if they didn't shape her identity. In fact, (3)
...ignoring those years could help the conspiracy mongers who think she's trying to hide something.

Press should ask, eg, how her time in 🇨🇦 shaped her understanding of 🇺🇸 and American identity.
