Tusk’s sentence of course fits those who voted for Brexit and telling 52% of voters that they can go to hell is brave but unusual in democracies
But what can you do? Everyone in Brussels think Brits are against Brexit and have simply been duped into voting for it. It’s part of the unsularity of the place
I always ask, if Brussels cannot fathom Britain or Turkey, a few miles away, how can it understand India, China, Iran, Indonesia?

In my talk at @HJS_Org last December I argued that Brexit only makes sense if you think we are moving away from a liberal international order - British activism has to be activism in a new world with different rules

Could use your polling cards as ration books: X for Remain means express queue while Brexiters get to wait in the hardship anteroom, where they can sip on beakers of blitz spirit and indulge in the mass privation that's been painted as 'good for the country'
This format will of course be reversed when jobs are to be culled at any factory or EU-dependant business, for which Leavers can now be first in line as they're the ones happy to take an economic hit for 'sovereignty'. Leave means leave, after all, even if it's your employment 👋

No10 says EU must decide if it will release a letter of assurances before the vote on Tuesday but EU sources tell me they are waiting for the go-ahead advice from Downing Street 1
The letter could have been released Saturday night ahead of No10 Sunday media blitz but wasn’t .. It could be released tonight or tomorrow ahead of vote .. OR EU/No10 may decide better not since 2
The EU letter will I’m told contain assurances/explanations of current deal and nothing new. The letter would come from Juncker/Tusk in Brussels and they can’t change the #Brexit deal without negotiation with and go ahead from 27 EU leaders 3

Post-Brexit, the idea is to put EU citizens in their place by stopping free movement. Free movement bothers Brexiters because it means foreigners come on an equal footing, as I've argued here 3/

Firstly, whatever it is, it won’t be the brexit that 16.4 million opposed in 2016, nor what was wanted by @The3Million EU citizens that or so many @BritishInEurope that were denied a vote!

1) Just so everyone is clear, the #Brexit that May is proposing, even if she gets it, is pretty much pointless.
We'll be a little bit poorer, won't have any additional "control" to speak of, and will carry on paying for the privilege.
2) the new FTAs, if they appear, will have minimal impact but most likely the public will argue against them in a "Britain first" kind of way.

The question from the Belgian journalist to May of "is it worth it?" will be the question everyone outside the UK will be asking
3) Absolutely no-one will be happy with the #Brexit outcome save a few idiots who only care about the symbolism of leaving. Certainly it won't resemble anything like "what we voted for", whatever that was, because it'll be a new, flawed, contradictory & compromised Brexit
