One good thing about the #GreenNewDeal nobody is mentioning: it would greatly reduce migration by making the United States more primitive than the Third World. In fact, you'd have Americans emigrating to countries where they're allowed to have cars and air conditioning.
And think about how much of our excess population the #GreenNewDeal would kill off! The death toll among sick and elderly people especially would be staggering. Demographic crisis: SOLVED.
Internet addiction? A thing of the past when you have super-expensive and unreliable electric power. The shaky "sustainable" grid envisioned by the #GreenNewDeal would collapse on a daily basis as it struggled to charge electric cars. Nobody would be living in front of a screen.
And you'd all be getting plenty of fresh air anyway. Indolent types applauding the #GreenNewDeal demand to pay them for not working are missing the true brilliance of the plan. Subsistence agriculture would come back, baby, and it's HARD work.
This plan would collapse the economy in a matter of months. The U.S. dollar would go the way of Venezuelan and Zimbabwean currency. Once hyper-inflation kicks in and the dollar is no longer the world reserve currency, we'll be bartering for basic goods.
Bartering means you have to get off the couch and get out of the house. For most of history, we had to work hard just to feed ourselves and our families. AOC would bring that back and put an end to layabouts and parasites. Welfare checks would be worth less than toilet paper.
The #GreenNewDeal will fix our broken political system because you deplorable serfs won't be able to move around as much. No cars, public transportation failing constantly as the power gives out and fuel runs low, limited ability to communicate with each other... UTOPIA.
Once you can't move, your leaders can begin properly controlling you. Central planning only fails because the serfs in advanced economies have too many options for disobedience. In the vastly more primitive USA of the #GreenNewDea, you will have obey your betters.
You see, your elite rulers will have all the resources and comforts YOU lack. THEY will have travel and communication privileges. They'll live much longer than you because they'll actually receive medical care. (You'll all be "covered" but few of you will actually see doctors.)
You'll look up and see your ruling class soaring overhead in the rare aircraft proles are no longer able to use. They'll have reliable power, Internet access, food, and comfort. They'll have time to think and plan, while the serfs work hard just to stay alive.
The #GreenNewDeal explicitly strips the serfs of virtually every freedom - that's what it means when your rulers "give" you everything as a "gift." And that's as it should be. Finally, America will be the one thing it never has been before: OBEDIENT. /end
