1. Why is it hard to work out if either May or Corbyn are really serious about compromising? They'd both be taking huge risks with their own parties if they do, but also, neither of them know if the other is really serious about moving their position
2. If May moves, she stands to lose swathes of Brexiteers, if Corbyn enables Brexit he'll enrage those who want another referendum - but there isn't as much between their positions as the political divide implies - and remember political declaration is pretty open
3. Lidington has now asked Starmer for talks - both sides very unsure of the other, but it's 'always better to have a conversation' - talks won't be today, Starmer is in Dublin - no date set either for next May/Corbyn encounter
4. Remember too tho - there are a fair number Labour MP s (one who has just got in touch to remind me) who want to vote for the deal - and think they can get advantage from it
