Does @BBCkatyaadler have any evidence that the EU is willing to ditch the backstop, or agree to a time limit, or allow the UK to exit it unilaterally? Listening to her reports you might be forgiven for thinking that this is in fact the case.@BBCNews
And if MPs believe that this is in fact the case, and if in fact it is not the case, then that would seem to be a good way of achieving an accidental no deal Brexit.
Presumably the EU is willing to offer clarification, further reassurance, reopen the PD etc. But if you use vague language about the EU being willing to blink if they think it will "work", people will hear what they want to. E.g. that time limits or unilateral exits are possible.
When that is not going to happen.
So let's avoid vague language. And if you believe that the EU will "blink" at the last minute, please be clear about what they are likely to blink about, and what they are not likely to blink about. Because otherwise you're feeding delusions.
And at this late stage, that is actually quite dangerous.
