Finally, finally, the Swiss government pages have two additional documents: a declaration on trilateral rules of origin (aiming to bring the EU in), and an agreement on Liechtenstein

Some odd and something right in this👇🏽 tweet from @TiceRichard to @IanDunt.

What's odd:

1. that "WTO bosses in Geneva" (@WTODGAZEVEDO and his management team?) would intervene by advocating any particular policy. Much more likely...

Much more likely they would react to any WTO-legal idea (interim/indefinite, FTA/CU) by saying "yes of course you can do that". They would be keen for the UK to sort out the various issues quickly but wouldn't advocate any particular arrangement.

Also odd:

2. The WTO is member-driven, so it's not up to the director-general and senior management, but the members. So the real "WTO bosses in Geneva" are the ambassadors. They do what ambassadors do: defend their countries' interests.

A closer look. The CH-UK trade deal counts as 1 EU trade relationship “rolled over” to the UK.

But it’s an incomplete “roll over”. Full continuity during transition in the UK-EU Withdrawal Agreement, but less with “no deal” or after the transition.

I’ve now looked more closely at the text of the Swiss-UK trade agreement released on Feb 20. One of the questions is how the Feb 11 Swiss information sheet👇🏽 for business — with its “deal”/”no deal” distinction — relates to the actual agreement.

It seems the trade agreement applies if there is no UK-EU deal. If there is one, ie, the Withdrawal Agreement, then that’s the instrument giving continuity.

Specifically, the UK-CH deal applies once the CH-EU agreements “cease to apply”

Mobile phone numbers, addresses, private family conversations, vacation pictures, bills, communications between politicians, work emails etc. were leaked
In most cases, Outlook was hacked, in some cases also Facebook, Twitter etc.

The leaked data, which was illegally collected until October 2018 and released December 2018, but just found now, is still publicly available.
I searched through it 5 hours last night, read maybe 3%of it and already found cases of corruption and bad political scandals.

1/ Norway 🇳🇴 Switzerland 🇨🇭Iceland 🇮🇸 and Liechtenstein 🇱🇮 are not in the EU. They are not in the EU Customs Union. They aren't in 'a' customs union with the EU like Turkey. None of them are seeking to join 'the' or 'a' customs union with the EU.
2/ so how do they try to ensure frictionless trade with the EU? There are various agreements, bodies and procedures they are party to. It's mind-bogglingly complex.
