Boy I don't know about this Nixon fella...universal health care, massive environmental spending, universal basic income. I think it's time for the @gop to renounce this socialist they harbored for all of these years. <sarcasm>

@GOP What if a Dem candidate for President ran on the "Nixon platform of UBI, universal health care, and massive environmental spending?" The GOP says America was great back in the olden days, Roger Stone said Nixon did nothing wrong. Ok, then let's complete Nixon's unfinished work!

I've been to the Jefferson Memorial multiple times, but had never fully appreciated the extent to which he was turned (in 1947 when it was built) into a Popular Front version of himself. nps.gov/thje/learn/pho…
It's these two quotes in particular, esp. the first one, that made me think of the Jefferson Memorial as "Jefferson, remade for the age of Gunnar Myrdal."
The Northeast quote is basically saying "let me thread the needle here between racial progressivism and gradualism via education, with a shout out to 'God' and 'the common people.'"

Of course Roger Stone would be the trojan horse for smuggling 2 Live Crew back onto the national stage. FWIW, I think it's worth noting that Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" bears an uncanny resemblance to 2 Live's biggest hit.

@GOP So, what is the cost to America of a population where a large % of them have no access to health care & another large % have limited access?

1. In order to have a healthy nation, all citizens need access to health care.

2. Health care is needed to maintain a healthy workforce.
@GOP 3. Having healthy workers is less costly to companies & to the country.

4. Preventing disease is less costly than leaving diseases untreated or inadequately treated--especially [but not only] contagious diseases.
@GOP 5. When all citizens have access to the health care they need, there's less downtime, less turnover, & much lower training costs as a result.

6. When health care coverage is taken out of the hands of employers, employers' costs are reduced.

The @CDCgov cites 133M as the number of chronically-ill Americans who have #cancer, like I do, or another illness that impedes their daily lives.

The majority of that 40% of the US population still have to work despite often disabling illness because we cannot afford not to.

I've been writing about #healthcare in America since I was a cub reporter and put on a small story in the mid-80s that turned into a much bigger story: #AIDS.

When you're in your 20s writing about other 20somethings dying, it changes you.

Then I got #breastcancer at 26.
