BREAKING: Judge rules against Trump administration, expanding group of separated kids to include potentially 1000s separated before zero tolerance.

Nielsen pushed for extreme Trump policies while ignoring realities on ground, like this:

Me: Do you think violence is spilling into USA?
Nielsen: Along the border? Absolutely.
Me: That's not what DEA says.
Nielsen: I‘d be happy to look at DEA materials.
She will always be the face of Trump’s family separation policy — even though she denied it existed.

Just this Friday the Trump administration, after being ordered to by a court, said it might take 2 years to identify all the kids it separated.
DHS secretary will change but Trump's policy goal remains the same.

Nielsen and McAleenan *both* support asylum law changes so US can:

1) Detain migrant families indefinitely, until cases are adjudicated
2) Send unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors back home immediately

Trump and Nielsen claiming that closing the border would stop or alleviate a legit family surge is bizarre.

It would block migrants legally seeking asylum at ports and add to a crush in between.

Their ultimate goal: detain families indefinitely and immediately deport solo kids.
Now, this.

Blocking legal asylum + cutting aid = another Trump-made crisis.

He wants it to look bad (like separations) so it‘ll scare Congress into indefinitely detaining families and deporting unaccompanied minors.

That’s not a theory.

It’s what a DHS official *told me* during separations: thought was chaos of crying kids would force Congress to allow indefinite detention and immediate deportation.

Same official said that’s why they regretted end of separations: “crisis” would have grown.

From 2017-2018 Lloyd ran the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) in HHS. ORR is responsible for the care of unaccompanied children in US custody. His tenure @ ORR overlapped with the Trump administration's Zero Tolerance/Family Separation policy.
Before working for ORR, Lloyd worked for an anti-abortion organization. During his time at ORR, he blocked multiple abortion requests from young women in his custody, including one minor who was raped. A federal judge overruled him.

3/ The means to hold Trump accountable for corruptly profiting from the Presidency (for the same acts as under the Emoluments Suit) is prosecution under 18 USC 201 (b) and (c): the Federal Bribery Law. This law provides criminal penalties for accepting gifts for official acts 👉
