1. WOW! Morrison threatens a defamation writ against Waleed Ali for citing a @lenoretaylor story reporting he wanted to run an anti-Muslim campaign in 2011.

thenewdaily.com.au/news/national/…
2. But @lenoretaylor had MULTIPLE sources who gave the same info to other journalists and stands by it- any courageous enough to go on record? Bring it on!

3. Case closed? Morrison did not deny the reports at the time!

(and Defamation not a starter in these circumstances?)
4. Has Morrison ever PUBLICLY denied the @lenoretaylor report?

thenewdaily.com.au/news/national/…
As far as I know Morrison never publicly denied suggesting exploiting anti-Muslim sentiment to Cabinet, & to say this after after his MediVac law remarks & Dutton equating Anning with the Greens this morning is breathtaking. His words are meaningless.

6. I wonder if Morrison hasn’t publicly denied suggesting exploiting anti immigrant sentiment because that might flush out the @lenoretaylor sources?
7. Oh look, @andrewprobyn confirmed the @lenoretaylor story at the time. Did Morrison ask for a retraction, Andrew?

8. So fitting that Morrison never denies a 2011 report he asked shadow Cabinet to exploit anti-Muslim sentiment, then claims defamation & demands apology when Waleed Aly refers to it after Christchurch. Exposed just as he plays statesman on the race politics he’s so famous for.
9. BINGO! Hartcher confirmed the @lenoretaylor story ‘ScoMo’ wanted to exploit anti-Muslim sentiment. NO DENIAL by him then or now.

Hartcher details colleague’s disgust with his race baiting over funerals for asylum seekers who died off Christmas Island

So when Morrison’s man told @theprojecttv Waleed relied on ‘discredited information’ - the @lenoretaylor story, confirmed by @andrewprobyn & Hatcher - he lied. Morrison had NEVER DENIED them, & I’ve yet to find evidence he even complained to SMH or West Australian. Sickening.
Easy to read thread on my news and comment on the sensational @samanthamaiden scoop today on Morrison’s empty defamation threat to force a false apology from Waleed Aly.

10. So, AFTER 8 YEARS, Morrison now says the @lenoretaylor story of him suggesting the Coalition capitalise anti-Muslim sentiment, is an ‘appalling lie’. Banking on her, @andrewprobyn & Hartcher’s sources shutting up till after the election?

11. Oh, Greg Hunt told @samanthamaiden Morrison never told shadow cabinet the Coalition should run on anti-Muslim sentiment, but he wasn’t at the meeting! They lie all the time, don’t they. Toss him out, #FlindersVotes

thenewdaily.com.au/news/national/…
12. If 3 senior press gallery journos ran “a repugnant lie” about a senior politician, wouldn’t he deny, complain to the journos & their editors & demand a retraction? Morrison appears to have done none of these things. I believe @lenoretaylor @andrewprobyn and Hartcher.
13. How come Morrison didn’t find the @lenoretaylor, @andrewprobyn & Hartcher articles “utterly offensive” at the time. He didn’t even deny them! Straight up dodgy.

14. The Project ain’t backing down, and neither is @lenoretaylor - when will @andrewprobyn & Hartcher speak?

Morrison pulled his appearance on The Project Monday night. It’s not Waleed Aly’s fault tha he referred to undenied media reports, surely.

15. Oh dear, a 2011 @lauratingle yarn quotes a shadow minister on the record effectively confirming Morrison’s pitch to capitalise on anti Muslim sentiment. Note the meeting was held to discuss lines of attack against the Gov. Great find by @Warbz

afr.com/news/politics/…
16. ANOTHER great find by @Warbz - @lenoretaylor wrote about the leak. Morrison did not deny the ‘repugnant lie’ because some frontbenchers took detailed notes, ‘Many’ attendees briefed reporters. Again, no complaint, no retraction demand. He said it.

17. @chriskkenny, wanna get the fact before you smear the totally innocent Waleed Aly and @theoroject, btw it was an SMH, West Australian and FinRe is story (Guardian unborn in 2911)

18. Extraordinary Morrison backdown. Simply extraordinary. He’s in real trouble...

19. Well @KKeneally, Morrison’s crawling to Waleed now, maybe he’ll sue @lenoretaylor @andrewprobyn Hartcher and those who reported their reports, including @annabelcrabb? I mean, Waleed Just referenced only yarns he’d refused to deny!

20. Excellent summary of the state of Morrison v Aly play by Malcolm Farr, - from undenied ‘gossip’ to, 8 years later, a ‘repugnant lie’ and threat to sue for defamation.

21. Why doesn’t anyone believe Morrison?

22. Waleed: Who is lying?
Morrison: the shadow ministers who leaked.
Then he falsely claims Ruddock said it didn’t happen. Waleed nails him, Ruddick did the time honoured ‘no recollection’ avoidance device.
23. Morrison’s claims that he didn’t want to exploit anti-Muslim sentiment, he wanted to “address” them. Sure, in a meeting on how to attack the Labor Govt. #theproject
24. #theproject takeaway - until tonight Morrison never admitted he had raised ‘anti-Muslim sentiment’ in Shadow Cabinet strategy meeting.

Background on why his latest spin - he wanted the Oppostion to ‘address’ it not ‘capitalise’ on it - is untenable.

amp.smh.com.au/politics/feder…
2. The FIRST TIME! And only because Andrew Robb’s admission years earlier came to light. So Morrison adopted Robb’s spin. Cornered. Desperate.

26. Andrew Robb’s admission forced Morrison to concede for the first time he raised ‘anti-Muslim sentiment’ and now he adopts Robb’s spin on it. He says all the shadow ministers who leaked were ‘lying’.

27. The SMH broke the story, so here’s the SMH report on Morrison’s latest spin on it. #theproject

28. @latingle reports, backing @lenoretaylor, several senior Libs stand by their assertion that Morrison suggested capitalising on anti-Muslim sentiment. Morrison said on #theproject that they were and are lying. Fascinating. Are any game to step up?

29. So Morrison’s way to “address” antI-Muslim sentiment was to oppose Govt bringing relatives of the dead in the Christmas Island boat wreck -50, including children - to the funerals was a waste of money? COME ON! Exploiting not addressing. He’s lying
30. And here’s tonight’s #theproject news report by @samanthamaiden, who broke the story that a furious PM had a staffer threaten the show with defamation action. Fabulous scoop Sam.
