Breaking: Neskantaga First Nation Chief Wayne Moonias announces the company that was working on the community’s water treatment plant has been ordered to immediately cease operations and leave.
Neskantaga has been under a boil-water advisory for over two decades. It is the longest-standing such advisory in Canada.
I was last here in 2016 when INAC Minister Carolyn Bennett promised it would come to an end.

TBay Police Const. Rob Steudle pleads guilty to discredible conduct.
Steudle published a number of comments to Facebook in September 2016 including this one, in response to a letter to the editor Nishnawbe Aski Nation Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler penned in the Chronicle Journal.
Legal counsel for Steudle and TBay Police presented joint statement of facts before the Police Services Act disciplinary proceedings.
Both sides agreed five days without pay (40 hours) would be suitable recourse, considering precedent cases.
No decision has yet been made.
Steudle had been regarded as exemplary, having never faced disciplinary action in over 30 years with the service. He has received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, served on the police association executive, and coached St. Patrick's High School football football team.

Legault says he proposed that Beyak delete the racist letters from her website, post a formal apology and complete a cultural-sensitivity course with an emphasis on Indigenous issues, but she hasn’t done any of those things.
Beyak posted the letters to show she had support for her argument that Indian residential schools did good for FN children, although many suffered physical & sexual abuse & thousands died from disease/malnutrition. Legault concluded that 5 of the letters contained racist content.

In 2004 and 2006, Kavanaugh swore to the Senate that he never received any emails referencing or containing materials drafted by Democratic staff which had been stolen by a GOP Senate staffer, Manuel Miranda, between 2001-2003.
Newly public emails prove Kavanaugh lied to the Senate under oath in 2004 and 2006. The emails from his work in the Bush White House were released during the Senate’s review of Kavanaugh’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. The following emails are just two examples of many.
