In some ways Trump is a simple-minded dumbass and in other ways he is a freaking genius.

The dumbass part is easy to recognize. He doesn’t read. He doesn’t understand the world. He doesn’t understand intricacies. He doesn’t appreciate nuance or the comprehend the complications of situations that can’t be sketched out in a page or two of a children’s book.

But where is a genius - I think - is he recognizes that we live in a Kardashian culture. People are addicted to drama. He gets that we live in a tribal culture that is accentuated a million times over by social media. We live in a culture where people need heroes & villains.

When Trump does what he is doing today - he is feeding a hunger and quenching a societal thirst for that kind of bullshit.

Momma June STILL has a TV show.

Trump knows what the fuck the people want and in some cases need. They’re addicted to it.

There is a part of me that wonders if the whole Conway thing isn’t just a scripted episode of the Trump show. It’s got all the elements of a Kardashian episode. Family drama. Palace intrigue. Good guys and bad guys.

Drama on steroids. Right into our veins.

Trump is terrible - let me be clear. But he is also a product of what we have become.

I, for one, am looking forward to getting a president that is drama-Free & only tweets on holidays, or when he/she is filming his/her dog or recognizing people that do good or heroic shit.
