So I said I will leave the matter of the people with the purple cows, but I feel the need to explain why I took on the fight. Some people have said I should have just ignored it. I couldn’t. There are two reasons. I’ll explain the first and the second some other time. A thread.
I saw this issue as bigger than just myself. It was about how black people, and women in particular, in the workplaces, everywhere in fact are expected to be quiet. Docile. Don’t upset the status quo. Tip-toe. Not have opinions of their own. Not to shine too bright & intimidate.
I dared shine too bright. I worked hard in Parly, earned my tiger stripes. I was recognised for my worked. I dared have an opinion & bravely challenge what I believed was wrong. I was dangerous. Confusing. What was I planning? How dare I? What would come next? Silence her!
So some saw an opportunity. Here was a black woman in the DA with loud opinions & publicly known. She did not fit the prototype. She was arrogant. How very dare she? Let’s use her as a sacrificial lamb to all those who don’t like that sort of thing.
Now I’m not scared of a fight. I fight to the death & I don’t lose. It takes a lot out of me & earns me enemies. So I pick my battles wisely. This was a fight worth it. On behalf of all the black people who are expected to shrink themselves not to intimidate the mediocre.
I fought to let them know to continue shining bright. Continue working hard. Continue having opinions that make people. Live your life. Be too loud. Be too opinionated. Be too much. Be you. Be. And do not live your life at your full potential. Stand your ground & stand it firmly.
Now some will say I only care about black people & I am destroying the DA (I’d no idea I was so powerful). I stand & fight for & with freedom loving South Africans, regardless of race. I want #OneSAForAll
What I won’t do is tip-toe around feelings. I won’t walk on eggshells. I will not fight for those who want to see the DA as a party that exists to protect & serve white interests. It is not. Deal. @MmusiMaimane made it clear that we don’t want the votes of racists. Go. Bye.
And so it is clear, come for me again, and in fact and person in the DA on that tip & disinformation tactics trust me when I say you will be met with my fury. Fire & brimstone. I took down one of the biggest PR firms in the world, you are small thing.
If you feel triggered by this post, dry your tears. I’ll be offline today, I’ll be with my family, positive vibes, so you will be furiously tweeting into a vortex. And quite frankly, I don’t care. And to all freedom-loving South Africa who want to build #OneSAForAll. Amandla ✊🏾
And to add, since it is #HumamRightsDay. Let us build a future as envisioned in our Constitution. One where ALL human rights are protected. Where diversity is encouraged & the wrongs of the past corrected. Divided, SA won’t prosper. Let us come together & build #OneSAForAll
That’s all from me now. My family awaits me. ❤️
