There's many things in #Brexit that are an absolute disgrace, but the bleating of those who laid the UK low with their arrogance complaining about the weakened position *they put us in* has to be up there

2) people like @iainmartin1 said this wouldnt happen, that we held all the cards, that the EU would buckle under the weight of desperate German car makers.

They ignored everyone who said "Article 50 is a nightmare, we'll be in a weak position"
@iainmartin1 3) and yet, now that they've been proved wrong, now the full anticipated horror of the trap they led the UK into is revealed, do they reflect on the shitty, baseless posturing which left us like lambs to the slaughter? Do they admit "maybe I was wrong"?

Our weakened state didn't happen by accident, people like @iainmartin1 sowed the seeds by bluffing the country & the EU about our relative negotiation strength.Only the EU didn't buy it. And now he complaining about the situation

2) barely reported, spun by the BBC as "EU gives itself a breather", we had to sit outside a room whilst 27 other countries decided our fate, what kind of #brexit extension we would get or even if we would get an extension
The greatest humiliation since Suez, & brexiters did this
3) the key point is this. The EU27 gave us an extension on article 50 because it was in their interest. If they had decided an extension was *not* in their interest, we'd have been out with no deal in a few days. And there's nothing we could have done about it.

I respectfully suggest Sarah than rather than castigating people for expressing their democractic right to protest at the utter shambles you and people like you have wrought, you instead take some time out to think about the damage you & yours have done to this country
Because of the actions of your party the UK had to sit outside of a room whilst 27 other nations decided our fate

1) #Brexit - a story
28 people have arranged to go to the match followed by a curry in a few months time

1 of them however can't decide if they want to go to the match, and really they want to go for an Italian even though they agreed to, & everyone else likes, a curry
2) this 1 person also might only have a starter, he's not sure & has at the last minute asked for more time to decide, even though the tickets for the match are selling out & the other 27 have to make arrangements, but can't even decide on how much time he needs to decide
3) now no one in their right mind would side with this one person. He's being indecisive, selfish & is risking the whole event for the other 27. He's out of order.

Yet millions of people will attack the EU27 as dictators & bullies when they don't agree to the UK acting this way

The Brexit vote was against our London-centric system. So if there's an economic hit because of a Brexit London voted against, Westminster would make sure the London Banking sector survived but everywhere else...
Many of the problems that pushed people to vote Brexit had nothing to do with the EU. One of those problems was the government choosing to protect the banks who caused the crash with bailouts while ordinary people just got austerity.
The rich took irresponsible risks with the country's future, but they were protected either by moving their money away or by the government and it was those with least who suffered the most.

#brexit seems to be all about feeling over fact and this is especially true of the ReesMogg ERG faction of the Tory right.
I never bought the line that #brexit is about Democracy because most of the Tory right had zero enthusiasm for improving democracy in the UK few of them care about unelected house of lords the unfair FPTP electoral system or transparency on the contrary
Most of the Tory right are interested only in constitutional changes that suit them and if anything strive to be as little democratically accountable as possible.

Chuka Umunna is the media's go to person when they want a Labour comment on many things especially Brexit, even though he's not a front bencher and doesn't support Labour Brexit position. For fairness the media should be truthful about his history as covered on the Thread below:

"#Brexit and EU agencies", our extensive look into third country relationships of the 36 EU agencies and how the UK might fit in.

Albeit largely technical, agencies will have huge implications on Brexit.

Five points stand out in particular:
First, Agencies matter. Like the customs union, they are a technical aspect of the EU, that works and was thus hardly discussed in the UK before #Brexit.
But they are important for single market, but also justice and home affairs.

UK gov thus has already asked to continue participation in selected agencies, in particular in sectors important to the UK economy, like aviation, chemicals or pharma.

1/ Very small thread on why #Brexit is actualy leading to the end of the UK or atleast the UK of the post war period as we understand it & its much, much more than *just* Irish & the Scots. Its as much about the English and its polity......
2/ Firstly tho Irish unification & Scottish independence - the 1st is likely to be accelerated once the inevitable demographic reality tips in (around 2030). Scottish Indy less predictable but in any case #Brexit vote confirmed a break - one that's even riven the Scottish Tories.
3/ What many dont get is that #Brexit will findamentally change "restUK" too. After UKs decline in 70s, EU membership enabled UK to be a big hitter - an atlanticist well armed, UN Sec Council member "big beast" inside a "global player" european trade bloc. This will change....
