Whatever’s in the report, there’s never been any outcome to this not involving every Republican loudly proclaiming it exonerates a flagrantly guilty president, and the media repeating the claim unchallenged b/c that is after all one of two sides.

Ignore Republicans is my point.
Republicans know well they can say literally any obvious evidence-free lie they want, and the lie will be dutifully served up in major media outlets, with polite skepticism no more than a tasteful optional dipping area on the side of the plate.

It's falsehood laundering.
They can tell big simple repeated lies, and only the first three words will make the paper.

Cable news won't tell you the objective truth to believe. It's a capitalist venture. You're the customer. They fill the market with Truth Products. YOU decide.

Trump was inevitable.
But truth exists.

Example: There is a report. It contains the findings of an investigation that led to indictments and convictions of Trump's key staff, his campaign manager, and his personal attorney, who implicated Trump of federal crimes in open court and before Congress.
Example: Every time new information came out, some lie that the president and his federaries told was exposed as a lie.

When it was exposed, they merely retrenched to a new lie, until that lie was exposed.

The process repeated itself many many times.

That is a fact.
Barr must release the report. Transparency is vital.

I think he will, too.

Because whatever's in the report, Republicans are going to say it 100% vindicates the president—an impossibility, even given what we know already.

And our news is going to launder that lie for them.
There is no story about the Mueller report that should even give breath to Republican claims of exoneration.

The main context of this story are these two truths:

1) The investigation led to arrests and convictions and damning testimony; 2) the pattern of lies—and they were LIES
I *think* (caveat b/c self-perception is a flawed tool) I haven't said much about the Mueller on here mainly because I wanted the investigation to go on and on.

As long as it was operational it could only be laundered into a persecution narrative rather than an exoneration myth.
This isn't bagging on journalists, by the way.

There are excellent journalists doing thankless dangerous hard work, and they are doing it well, in the outlets that are available.

But most outlets will table their excellent work alongside pure nonsense, one product among many.
It's going to be "two sides" again.

One "side" will say it's a partisan witch hunt. The other will note the pattern of lies, arrests, convictions, testimony.

The capitalized fourth estate will just shrug its shoulders and point to the menu.

Truth Product for sale.

YOU choose.
Perfect example:

Birtherism was a racist lie that conservatives still believe. It served its purpose as a flashpoint for political organizing by taking it seriously.

Now it's outlived that purposed, it's useful as a point of false comparison by pretending it was never serious.
Acting as if the investigation has done anything but expose an utterly corrupt administration and a thoroughly complicit political party can be taken as evidence of bad faith.

Don't debate it

Debating elevates the nonsense to the level of truth

Ignore Republicans is my point
Whether they release it or not, they will say the exact same thing about it— full presidential exoneration—and all the people who have already chosen to disbelieve reality so far will continue to decide to disbelieve reality.

Correct. Treat their narrative like the joke it is.
Pattern of lies.
Arrests.
Convictions.
Damning testimony.

But never mind all that.

This is how it’s done.
He said there was no meeting
Then he said no one senior was at the meeting.
Then he said yes but they weren’t talking about hacked info
Then he said ANYONE would talk about hacked info but he didn’t know
Then Cohen said under oath he did know

And they just leave that out.
